I already mentioned the word yesterday: Linkbait. One of the most used words in linkbuilding lately. Basically linkbait is some content created with the special intent to gather more backlinks to your website.

Especially in the blogosphere linkbait can be a very powerful tool to get lots of links very quickly. What it takes is usually some controversial or high publicity topic and some unique content. Once your site gets picked up in the blogosphere you can gather thousands of links in a matter of days.

There are a few ways to enhance your chances of your linkbait being picked up by the blogosphere. More about that in a later topic.
