There are probably hundreds (if not thousands) of other blogs about the same topic which you can find through services like Technorati. Let them know you exist by replying to their posts (with your link). Try to actually write meaningful replies, the chance of someone clicking your link are a lot bigger if they are triggered by your reply. Don’t care to much if a blog adds “nofollow” to a link, if your reply was good enough the author might link to you in future postings.

Directory submissions

Don’t expect lots of traffic but if you do it mostly for linkbuilding purposes, directory links will eventually make you rank in Google and other search engines. Every now and then you might stumble upon a directory that actually sends you visitors. You can submit your site to all those directories by hand but it’s a lot faster to use a submission service.

Don’t submit your site to DMOZ or the Yahoo directory (yet). Changes are very slim that they’ll list a new site. It’s better to wait a couple of months, create a lot of valuable content in the meantime, and not to upset the editor. Your chances of being accepted after a few months are a lot better and the link value it gives are definitely worth the wait.

Google wants to count links which were meant to be legitimate “votes” for a web page. Google does not want to count links as votes if those links were placed on a web page for monetary reward, or as spam.

Most people think of comment spam when we’re talking about links from weblogs.
But by leaving 3 relevant replies every day you can build almost 100 links per month.

Off course lots of them will be no-follow links, but that feature is ignored by humans, so it can bring significant, relevant traffic to your site.
